At Ellis Park, you can enjoy all the amenities of the park, including play equipment, open recreation spaces, public restrooms, and plenty of parking, while also being just a few steps from the beach. Additionally, Short Sands Beach is also home to a variety of eateries, shops, and arcades, so the fun can continue from the park straight to the beach!
2. York Village Elementary School
Many of York’s local schools have playgrounds and open play areas that the public is welcome to use, and York Village Elementary School is the perfect example. Here, you’ll find two playgrounds to check out, one in the front of the school and one in the back.
In addition to two playgrounds with play equipment, the school offers a softball field, a baseball field, and a multipurpose field perfect for all kinds of recreational sports. There’s even an open concession stand where you can grab refreshments during events.
3. York Middle School
York Middle School is home to a small but welcoming playground, an outdoor basketball hoop, and a multipurpose recreational field. There are plenty of places to park in the school’s large paved lot.
This campus is on Organug Road, right off York Street, which makes it easy to access. While the outdoor areas are always open to visitors, you can reserve the onsite gymnasium for special events or athletic practices.
4. Coastal Ridge Elementary School
There are two small playgrounds located at Coastal Ridge Elementary School, one on the side of the campus and one at the back. The wood chip bases in this playground make it extra safe for kids.
One unique feature of Coastal Ridge Elementary’s outdoor areas is the walking track, which extends for a quarter mile around the school. There are three outdoor basketball hoops, a tetherball, a field for T-ball, and a smaller field used for recreational sports. Parking is easy to find in the school’s large lot.
5. Bog Road Fields and Playground
The Bog Road Fields are large athletic fields where visitors can come and play recreational sports, picnic, or simply enjoy the weather. These fields directly connect to Benjamin Park Playground, which has two multipurpose fields of its own, as well as a Little League field and playground with kid-friendly equipment.
