Mount Agamenticus Big A 50K Trail Race

The Mount Agamenticus Big A 50K Trail Race is an annual Ultra trail race in York, Maine which starts at the Summit of Mt. Agamenticus. This event is entirely volunteer run and the registration fee is a minimum $20 donation to the Mount Agamenticus Conservation Program.

Big A 50K Race Course & Terrain

The course is composed of three 10.35 mile loops starting at the summit of Mount Agamenticus (Big A) and climbing back up the Big A and going over Second Hill and Third Hill and back up the Big A. There are opportunities to cross the finish line at approximately 10 miles and 13 miles (or any multiple of them up to 31 miles/50K).

The terrain is mostly single track with some dirt road and ATV-type trails. The full 50K has 5,787 feet of elevation gain. Footing is technical with plenty of rocks, roots, and elevation changes. Trail running shoes are recommended. All runners should train for and plan to finish within 10 hours.

The Big A 50K trail race in York, Maine is a small, grassroots ultra with a fantastic family-vibe among the race organizers, runners and volunteers. The course is mostly single track in the Mount Agamenticus Conservation area with moderate technical footing and a good amount of climbing/descent, (but no huge climbs in terms of total elevation). 2022 Big A 50K Race Registration Information

The 2022 Big A 50K Trail Race is scheduled for Saturday, May 7, starting at 7:30am. Registration is available via Run SignUp and is capped at 125 runners. First come, first served. No race day registration. For additional race information, visit https://agamenticus.org/trail-races/big-a-50k/.
