Times have changed, however. Restaurants that offer buffet service are few and far between. Chain restaurants that offer buffet options have all but disappeared. The largest buffet restaurant in Maine is tucked away in a South Portland mini-mall.
Despite all that, there’s still an audience for buffet-style meals. In other parts of the country, chains like Golden Corral are among the most popular restaurants to visit, especially for breakfast.

That would be Shearwater at Stage Neck Inn. The Shearwater overlooks the ocean so you get premium views with your delicious feast. There are plenty of breakfast standards on the menu, including cereal, toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries and fresh fruit.
But there’s also some high-end menu items to grab too. Shearwater offers eggs Benedict as part of their breakfast buffet. Not only that, visitors can dive into their deep fried french toast to satisfy any indulgent craving.
